The present invention relates to devices for detecting the presence of one or more operators in the working area of a machine for assisting the harvesting of asparagus or other vegetables, both in the field and under glass. These devices, comprising direct-sensing photoelectric cells or a polarized reflex reflector with the function of stopping the machine when they detect the operator and, therefore, are positioned just before the rear cart of the machine, with the detection beam directed transversely to the machine, are characterized in that they comprise, in addition to the aforementioned photoelectric cells, at least one direct-sensing infrared photocell (C) directed towards the operator (3) to detect its presence so that this detection does not stop the movement of the machine, but allows it to advance. La présente invention concerne des dispositifs destinés à détecter la présence d'un ou plusieurs opérateurs dans la zone de travail d'une machine d'assistance à la récolte des asperges ou autres légumes, aussi bien en plein champ que sous serre. Ces dispositifs, comprenant des cellules photo-électriques à détection directe ou bien une cellule photo-électrique polarisée à catadioptre ayant pour fonction d'arrêter la machine lorsqu'elles détectent l'opérateur et, par conséquent, sont positionnées juste avant le chariot arrière de la machine, avec le faisceau de détection dirigé transversalement à la machine, sont caractérisés en ce qu'ils comprennent, outre les cellules photo-électriques susmentionnées, au moins une cellule photo-électrique (C) infrarouge à détection directe dirigée vers l'opérateur (3) pour détecter sa présence afin que cette détection n'arrête pas le mouvement de la machine, mais autorise cette dernière à avancer.
