The invention relates to air conditioning in railway cars. The present air conditioning system comprises an inlet recirculating air duct (1) and an inlet air duct (2) for external air, which are connected to a chamber (3) for mixing external air and recirculated air. Downstream of the mixing chamber (3) is a main air duct (4), in which an evaporation unit (5) and an inlet fan (6) are fastened. The inlet fan is mounted downstream of the evaporation unit, as is an outlet forced-draft air duct (7) for supplying treated air to the passenger compartment. The system is provided with an ultraviolet air treatment unit (8), in which primarily U-shaped amalgam lamps (13) are mounted as a source of UV radiation. Unit (8) can be mounted in one or several positions in the system. The inside surface of the unit (8) can have a coating applied thereto, which absorbs or reflects ultraviolet radiation. The technical result is a system which provides more effective decontamination of air, remains fit for use for longer, has a longer service life, protects people from UV radiation, has smaller dimensions and is easier to install and maintain.
