An edible animal chew comprising a starch content of 50 to 75 wt % relative to the total weight of the chew; a humectant content of 5 to 20 wt % relative to the total weight of the chew; and a density of 1.0 g cm−3 or less, and preferably wherein the chew exhibits a texture profile analysis cohesiveness of 0.55 or greater.
