An implant for stabilization of an unstable bone fragment (4) in relation to a stable bone fragment, (5) said implant comprising a buttress pin (10 in the form of a wire element having a U-shaped bend (13) with opposite legs (14, 15) extending from the U-shaped bend, said opposite legs (14, 15) each having a first portion extending from the U-shaped bend that lies in a plane of the U-shaped bend and a second portion that lies in a plane outside the plane of the U-shaped bend, said second portion being of sufficient length for bearing against and buttressing the unstable bone fragment (4), said first portion of said legs having a first region in proximity to said U-shaped bend and a second region in proximity to said second portion, said legs being adopted to be secured to the stable bone fragment in said first region, characterized in that said legs are spaced apart in said first region at a distance which is less than the spacing of the legs in said second region and/or said legs have a length from the U-shaped bend to said second portion which are unequal.
