Provided is a medical knife having a structure such that the cutting blade does not face upwards when placed on a platform. The medical knife (10) comprises a handle section (20) and a blade section (30). The handle section (20) has a protruding section (20a) that comes in point contact with a flat surface or in linear contact along the axial direction of the handle section when an attempt is made to place a cutting blade (30a) of the blade section (30) of the medical knife so as to face upwards upon the flat surface. In addition the protruding section (20a) comes in contact with a horizontal flat plane at a position displaced from a line descending vertically from the center of gravity of the medical knife.
