Disclosed is antibodies which bind to claudin 6 (CLDN6) associated with the surface of a cell that expresses CLDN6, and do not bind to a CLDN6 mutant on the surface of a cell that expresses said CLDN6 mutant, wherein said CLDN6 mutant comprises an alanine mutation at position 35, 37 or 39 of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2 or SEQ ID NO: 8, and wherein the antibody is not any one of those deposited under the accession no. DSM ACC3069 (GT512muMAB 61D), DSM ACC3070 (GT512muMAB 64A), DSM ACC3073 (GT512muMAB 67A), DSM ACC3090 (GT512muMAB 89A), DSM ACC3067 (GT512muMAB 59A), DSM ACC3068(GT512muMAB 60A), and DSM ACC3072 (GT512muMAB 66B). Also disclosed is the use of said antibodies in the treatment of cancer.
