The invention especially relates to a hydroxylapatite/silicon dioxide granular material having a defined morphology, to a highly porous bone substitute material based on said granular material and to glass ceramics for use as a bone substitute material which is in turn based on said highly porous bone substitute material. Said glass ceramics has a variable mechanical stability. The invention also relates to molded bodies produced on the basis of said material, wherein materials having different mechanical stabilities are preferably used for the molded body. The inventive bone substitute materials are characterized by their excellent resorbability in vivo.
