PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combine harvester for preventing an auxiliary cutting blade device from being broken or the like, by enabling an auxiliary cutting device to retract backward by buffer means, when it receives a pressing force from the front, and the retrieving action of the auxiliary cutting device.SOLUTION: To the machine frame of a running machine, there are hinged the base end parts of transversely paired support arms extending forward and downward through the arm spindles having axes directed transversely, thereby to support an auxiliary cutting blade device between the leading end parts of the two support arms. The auxiliary cutting blade device is supported through a connecting/releasing mechanism on a cutting part so that it is held at a predetermined ground height and can be retracted backward when it receives a pressing force from the front. At the back of each support arm, there is arranged cushioning means for cushioning the backward saving action of each support arm.
