The device comprises: a dosimeter (30); a first dosimeter block (12) including an interior surface (16) with a cavity (18) defined therein in which the dosimeter (30) is positioned; and a second dosimeter block (14) configured to operate with the first dosimeter block (12), the second dosimeter block (14) including an interior surface (26) forming a protrusion (28) configured to abut an interior surface of the cavity (18) of the first dosimeter block (12). The first and second dosimeter blocks (12, 14) are manufactured from a radiation resistant material and form a dosimeter holder that is of sufficient density and thickness to shield the dosimeter (30) from indirect exposure to radiation.
