The invention relates to an acoustic-optical imaging method in which unfocussed acoustic waves and light waves having different propagation directions m are emitted in a medium by spatially modulating the amplitude of the ultrasound transducers of an array of transducers according to a plurality of periodic spatial amplitude modulations j, and the resulting optical signal Smj (t) is collected. For each propagation direction m, the signals Smj (t) are spatially demodulated to determine a signal Sm (t) that can be used to reconstruct the image of the medium.Procédé d'imagerie acousto-optique dans lequel on émet dans un milieu des ondes lumineuses et des ondes acoustiques non focalisées ayant différentes directions de propagation m, en modulant spatialement l'amplitude des transducteurs ultrasonores d'un réseau de transducteurs selon plusieurs modulations spatiales périodiques j d'amplitude, et on capte le signal optique Smj (t) résultant.
