A drug delivery device comprises: a cap releasably secured to a main body of the drug delivery device a needle assembly retained within the cap and a pre-stressed biasing element disposed between the cap and the needle assembly and configured to bias the needle assembly in a distal direction with respect to the drug delivery device while the cap is secured to the main body. One or more locking elements each having a locked position and an unlocked position, wherein in the locked position the locking elements prevent the needle assembly from engaging with a cartridge retained within the main body. The cap is configured in an initial position to retain the locking elements in the locked position and in an intermediate position to release the locking elements to allow the needle assembly to engage with the cartridge.La présente invention concerne un dispositif dadministration de médicament comprenant : un capuchon fixé de manière amovible à un corps principal du dispositif dadministration de médicament un ensemble aiguille retenu à lintérieur du capuchon et un élément de sollicitation précontraint disposé entre le capuchon et lensemble aiguille et conçu pour solliciter lensemble aiguille dans une direction distale par rapport au dispositif dadministration de médicament lorsque le capuchon est fixé au corps principal. Un ou plusieurs éléments de verrouillage ayant chacun une position verrouillée et une position déverrouillée, les éléments de verrouillage en position verrouillée empêchant lensemble daiguille dêtre en prise avec une cartouche retenue dans le corps principal. Le capuchon est configuré dans une position initiale pour retenir les éléments de verrouillage en position verrouillée et dans une position intermédiaire pour libérer les éléments de verrouillage afin de permettre à lensemble aiguille dêtre en prise avec la cartouche.
