Raw deoiled cake of Karanja [Pongamia pirinata) is a waste-product in generation of biodiesel and being toxic are not usable as animal feed unlike most other deoiled cakes, which have been investigated for their adsorption unto the three primary aqueous dye: solutions [namely red, blue and yellow) and their combinations. On optimization of operating conditions [particle size, contact period, dosage, adsorbate concentration and pH), it was found that the Karanja was found to result significant reduction of the dye-removal for all three dyes. Combination of Karanja with jatropha deoiled cake was also found to augment the removal.
