PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of preventing or treating burn injuries and complications associated therewith.SOLUTION: The disclosure relates to a method for treating a subject suffering from a burn injury or a complication by administering to the subject an effective amount of an aromatic-cationic peptide. For example, a burn injury may be associated with a distant pathophysiological effect, such as hypermetabolism, skeletal muscle dysfunction, and visceral organ damage.
