A method for classifying glasses (1) with respect to the protection provided by said glasses against the danger of UV, whereby an index value (E-SPF) is calculated to quantify a reduction in a total amount of UV that affects an eye for a user of said glasses with respect to UV exposure without glasses, the method comprising the following operations: / 1 / providing a UV transmission value (tUV) for the glasses (1), obtained by integrating weighted spectral transmission values (t (λ)) to quantify the hazard (S (λ)) and intensity (Es (λ)) for each wavelength value (A), over a given UV wavelength range (UV A and UV B); / 2 / provide a UV reflection value (RUV) on a rear face (1b) of the glasses (1), said UV reflection being obtained by integrating spectral reflection values (R (A)) that refer to the face of the glasses, and weighted to quantify the danger (S (λ)) and intensity (Es (λ)) for each wavelength value (λ), over the determined UV wavelength range (UV A and UV B); / 3 / combine both UV (tUV) and UV (RUV) reflection values of the glasses (1) using an addition formula with nonzero positive factors (β, α) respectively for UV transmission and UV reflection; and / 4 / calculate the index value (E-SPF) from a non-zero base number (BN) divided by a result obtained in the operation / 3 /.Un método para clasificar unas gafas (1) con respecto a la protección proporcionada por dichas gafas contra el peligro de los UV, por el que un valor de índice (E-SPF) es calculado para cuantificar una reducción en una cantidad total de UV que incide sobre un ojo para un usuario de dichas gafas con respecto a la exposición a los UV sin gafas, comprendiendo el método las siguientes operaciones: /1/ proporcionar un valor de transmisión de UV (tUV) para las gafas (1), obtenido integrando valores de transmisión espectral (t(λ)) ponderados para cuantificar el peligro (S(λ)) y la intensidad (Es(λ)) para cada valor de longitud de onda (A), sobre un intervalo de longitud d
