Disclosed herein are methods and compositions for treating or preventing bacterial infections. In particular, the present methods and compositions include C.I. difficile infection. In a particular embodiment, the composition is a vaccine containing a multimeric polypeptide containing parts of multiple toxins from bacteria. The polypeptide induces an effective immune response, resulting in treatment or prevention of infection.
