Methods for providing, at the discretion of the user, at least two different oxidative hair coloring compositions providing different level of lift based on a single tint component. The methods involve the use of a tint component comprising a first non-ammonia alkalizing agent, an oxidizing component and a third component comprising a second non-ammonia alkalizing agent. The compositions may comprise little or no ammonia.
