PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel lock device for a wheelchair which does not cause a secular change to affect its movement once it is attached to the wheelchair, allows a user to use the wheelchair without anxiety, and provides high reliance because the device locks the wheels directly.SOLUTION: The wheel lock device B for a wheelchair A operating in association with the vertical movement of a seat face comprises an operating member 13 vertically moving in association with the vertical movement of the seat face. An engagement plate 15 is suspended from the lower surface of the operating member 13. An engagement shaft 17 engaged with and disengaged from a large number of annular engagement holes 22 formed in a disk 5 fitted to the wheel 4 is connected to the outer surface of the engagement plate 15. When the operating member 13 is moved upward, the engagement plate 15 is rotated in the direction so as to engage the engagement shaft 17 with the engagement hole 22 of the disk 5.
