An instrument (100) for use in cartilage removal comprises an elongate body (102) having a first end (103) and a longitudinal axis A having a longitudinal direction. A cartilage removal portion (104) is coupled to the elongate body at the first end. The cartilage removal portion includes a plurality of serrated blades (110a-110i) substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and adapted for removing material while moving in the longitudinal direction. Each serrated blade has a centroid located along the longitudinal axis. The blades can be circular plates with a plurality of circumferential teeth (112).
