SOLUTION: The prophylactic or therapeutic agent for peptic ulcers includes enzyme modified cheese (EMC), namely, an enzyme modified cheese obtained by fermenting any of various milks such as cow milk, goat milk etc., give cheese and treating the cheese with any of various lipases and proteases as an active ingredient. The prophylactic or therapeutic agent suppresses outbreak of ulcers in the stomach, the duodenum and the small intestine and has a treatment effect on ulcers.
