The present invention is a device and method for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and related urinary tract symptom infections (LUTS). The device is preferably an intraurethral implant placed in a patient in need thereof with minimally invasive treatment under local anesthesia in an office environment. The device is sized and designed for non-traumatic insertion and expansion within the urethra to bind and contract to expanded prostate tissue proximal to the urethra, leading to negative symptoms associated with BPH.
