The present invention relates to an ultrasonic diagnosing apparatus and an operating method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the ultrasonic diagnosing apparatus comprises: a ultrasonic transmit/receive part transmitting an ultrasonic signal to a target object and receiving an echo signal corresponding to the ultrasonic signal from the target object through a probe； and an operation mode controlling part setting to one mode among a first operation mode and a second operation mode in the ultrasonic transmit/receive part on the basis of an operation state information of the probe.본 발명은 초음파 진단 장치 및 그 동작방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 초음파 진단 장치는 프로브를 통하여, 초음파 신호를 대상체로 송신하고, 상기 대상체로부터 상기 초음파 신호에 대응하는 에코 신호를 수신하는 초음파 송수신부 및 상기 프로브의 동작 상태 정보에 기초하여, 상기 초음파 송수신부의 동작 모드를 제1 동작 모드 및 제2 동작 모드 중 어느 하나로 설정하는 동작 모드 제어부를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
