A perinatal care device provides a shield that is placed over the mothers lower thorax. The shield is generally in the shape of a part dome, with its rim extending towards the mothers head. Warm air is delivered to a manifold in or on the shield, from which it is distributed to the space between the shield and the mothers thorax. Thus, a region of warm air can be provided within which the baby and mother are comfortable, and the baby is physically separated by the shield from an continuing surgical activity on the mothers abdomen.
