PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus capable of uniformly forming a high frequency magnetic field and receiving a magnetic resonance signal for every loop part.
SOLUTION: RF coil 15 of this MRI apparatus 1 is provided with a changeover section 51 changing over the mode of the RF coil 15 between a single mode where a plurality of loop portions 45 are not mutually interfered and a resonance frequency becomes a single, and a multiple mode where the plurality of loop portions 45 are mutually interfered and the resonance frequency becomes multiple. A control part 26 controls the operation of the changeover section 51 so that, when applying the high frequency magnetic field, the mode of the RF coil 15 is changed to the multiple mode and, when receiving the magnetic resonance signal, the mode of the RF coil becomes the single mode and a data collection part 24 collects data based on the magnetic resonance imaging signals received from the plurality of loop portions 45 for every loop section 45.
