PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for diagnosing and crushing a calculus which diagnoses a main component of a calculus dynamically and accurately and surely selects a laser wavelength appropriate for laser crushing treatment during the treatment.
SOLUTION: Spectrum measuring illumination light is emitted toward a calculus 200 and is guided to the calculus 200 within a living body using a second optical fiber 31. Reflected light from the calculus 200 is guided to a spectrum measuring device 20 using a third optical fiber 32. The spectrum measuring device 20 is used to carry out spectroscopic analysis of the spectrum of the calculus 200. Because the wavelength of laser light emitted from the infrared tunable laser 10 is selected variably, the wavelength of calculus crushing laser light is selected on the basis of the spectroscopic analysis of the calculus 200 in such a way that the calculus 200 shows a large absorption rate toward the laser light. The calculus crushing laser light emitted from the infrared tunable laser 10 is guided to the calculus within the living body using a first optical fiber 30 to crush the calculus.
