A drive system (100) for an agricultural work machine is disclosed, the drive system (100) is configured to drive a performance system for performing a crop preparation or handling operation, the drive system (100) further comprising: a motor (150) configured to produce a drive force and a tensioner system (170) operatively connected to the motor (150), wherein a directional movement of the motor (150) adjusts the application of at least one force applied in the drive system (100) to adjust a tension thereof. Further a method of providing a crop preparation or handling operation with a performance system of an agricultural work machine driven by a primary power source is disclosed.
