A collapsible medical device (10) which comprises an outer metal fabric (20, 110) the said metal fabric surrounding an inner metal fabric (22, 24, 112, 114), said outer and inner metal fabrics each having a plurality of braided metal strands with an expanded preset configuration and proximal and distal ends (116, 118), the said ends of the braided metal strands being secured to prevent the fabrics from unraveling and the plurality of braided strands comprising the inner and outer metal fabrics (20, 22, 112, 114) being secured together, the said outer and inner metal fabrics having a memory property such that the medical device tends to return to said expanded preset configuration when unconstrained, the said medical device (10) being shaped to create an occlusion of an abnormal opening in a vascular organ, said expanded preset configuration being deformable to a lesser cross sectional dimension for delivery through a channel in a patients body.
