Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft die kosmetische Verwendung von Lycopin zur Steigerung der Zell-Proliferation der Haarfollikelzentren, zur Verringerung der Apoptose von Haarkeratinocyten und zur Verlängerung der Anagenphase. Die Erfindung betrifft weiterhin ein kosmetisches Verfahren, bei dem durch topische Applikation eines Mittels auf der Basis von Lycopin eine Steigerung der Zell-Proliferation der Haarfollikelzentren, eine Verlängerung der Anagenphase sowie eine Verringerung der Apoptose von Haarkeratinocyten erzielt wird.Use of (6E,8E,10E,12E,14E,16E,18E,20E,22E,24E,26E)-2,6,10,14,19,23,27,31-octamethyldotriaconta-2,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20,22,24,26,30-tridecaene (lycopene) for producing cosmetic compositions for promoting keratin synthesis in hair, is claimed. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a hair treatment agent comprising (a) 0.0000005-1 wt.% lycopene, (b) 0.5-5 wt.% anionic surfactant, and (c) 0.5-50 wt.% amphoteric and/or zwitterionic surfactant and (2) treating hair, comprising applying the above hair treatment agent on the hair, and rinsing the agent after a contact time of 5 seconds to 15 minutes.
