A method of forming an alkaline earth metal salt may include providing a slurry that includes an alkaline earth metal and an organic polyatomic anion, and spray drying the slurry to form a spray dried alkaline earth metal salt. The slurry temperature may be greater than or equal to about 50° C. A method of forming a tablet may include tableting a non-agglomerated alkaline earth metal salt.
