Further, the erythrocytes are concentrated and the concentrated erythrocytes are brought into contact with a lysing solution containing one or more substances of pharmaceutical interest, which results in the erythrocytes having osmolality of 150–110 mOsm/kg. Further, a sealing solution is added to obtain an erythrocyte population, which is characterised in that the percentage of phosphatidylserine formed by the erythrocytes, which is measured in annexin V assay, is less than 10 % and the amount of lactate formed for every 106 erythrocytes is 0.100 nmol/h.
