An insecticide protein that exhibits toxic activity against a lepidopteran insect species is disclosed, including, but not limited to, TIC6757, TIC6757PL, TIC7472, TIC7472PL, TIC7473, and TIC7473PL. There is provided a DNA construct containing a recombinant nucleic acid sequence encoding one or more of the disclosed insecticide proteins. Transgenic plants, plant cells, seeds, and plant parts that are resistant to lepidoptera contain a recombinant nucleic acid sequence encoding the pesticide protein of the present invention.
