PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a GIP secretion inhibitor useful as a pharmaceutical or food, capable of promoting digestion and/or ameliorating a dull feeling in the stomach through inhibiting the secretion of a digestive tract hormone (GIP) having gastric acid secretion inhibitory activity and/or gastric motility inhibitory whose secretion is activated with lipids and the like in diet, in taking a meal.SOLUTION: The postprandial GIP secretion inhibitor comprises, as an active ingredient for promoting digestion and/or ameliorating a dull feeling in the stomach, potassium alginate which significantly inhibits postprandial GIP secretion after taking a meal compared to sodium alginate.
