Disclosed is the use of an antisecretory protein, a functional homologue and/or fragment thereof, having equivalent activity, and/or a pharmaceutically active salt thereof, for the manufacture of a pharmaceutical composition for treatment and/or prevention of dysfunction of lipid rafts, receptors and/or caveolae in cell membranes, wherein said dysfunction is selected from the group consisting of vascular dysfunction, cardiovascular dysfunction, lung dysfunction, diabetes mellitus, diabetes mellitus related complications, hyperplasia and/or hypertrophy of cells and/or tissue, cardiomyopathy, pulmonary disorder, and tumors and complications thereof, or for facilitating improved biointegration of implanted foreign material into a mammal.
