PURPOSE: An ultrasound system and gain control method are provided to efficiently detect an ultrasonic image corresponding to desired ultrasonic data by automatically executing gain control according to application.CONSTITUTION: A storing part(130) stores gain control curve information corresponding to application. A processor(140) is connected to an ultrasonic wave data acquisition part(120) and the storing part. The processor extracts the gain control curve information corresponding to input information of a user from the storing part. The processor form a gain control curve based on the extracted gain control curve information.
