The robotic surgical system is configured to have rigid curved cannulas 416a extending through the same opening in the patient''s body. The surgical instrument 500 with the passive flexible shaft 506 extends through the curved cannulas. The cannulas are oriented such that the surgical instrument is directed towards the surgical site. Various inlet 1402 features are disclosed for supporting curved cannulas within a single opening. Disclosed is a cannula support fixture that inserts into a single opening and supports cannula while mounted on a robotic manipulator.
