The medical imaging system includes a patient positioning table and a patient examination area that is open on at least three sides and accessible from a front side. The patient positioning table is able to be moved into the patient examination area. At least one positioning motor is arranged on a rear side and is separated from the front side by a rear wall element. The at least one positioning motor is operable to adjust the position of a framework. The patient positioning table is disposed on the framework.
