The invention relates to a fruit spread, comprising fruits of at least one type, which have been reduced to small pieces, sugar, and pectin at a concentration of 1 to 1.5% of the fruit weight. In order to be able to significantly reduce the sugar fraction of such a fruit spread without having to accept disadvantages with regard to the consistency of the spread, it is proposed that the sugar fraction is less than a fifth of the fruit weight, that the pectin is a low-esterified, amidated pectin, and that lime juice is added in order to set the pH value of the fruit spread between 2 and 6. The invention further relates to a method for producing such a fruit spread.
