An illumination device may include an illumination source (14) including a light source (42), a single fiber (16) connecting the illumination source to a medical device (12) and being dedicated to the transmission of light energy from the light source and a numerical aperture adjustment portion (62) located between the single fiber and the medical device. The light source may generate non-white colored laser energy and the illumination device may convert the non-white colored laser energy into white colored laser energy.
