Disclosed is a fencing system (1) suitable for use in flood-prone areas to prevent flood debris from breaking down fencing posts and to prevent cattle from accessing and polluting waterways (6). The fencing system (1) comprises a plurality of flexible fence posts (2), a tensile fencing material (4) and a connector (8). The plurality of flexible fence posts (2) are adapted to be secured to or into the ground (3). The tensile fencing material (4) attaches to some or all of the plurality of fence posts (2). The connector (8) attaches the tensile fencing material (4) to the fence posts (2) has a predetermined breaking strength with respect to the posts. The arrangement and construction is such that the connector (8) is adapted or able to break free from the flexible fence post(s) (2), thus releasing the tensile material (4) from the flexible fence post(s) (2) upon a force being applied to the connector which is greater than the breaking strain of the connector.
