The present invention relates to a horseshoe-shaped guide catheter (16) for performing ductus arteriosus angioplasty and placing stents in newborn and infant patients with ductal-dependent cardiopathies, the guide catheter comprising: a long, straight, hollow first section joined at the distal part thereof to a second section formed by a curved portion in the form of a circle section having a radius (R a) of 7.5 mm to 9 mm, the arc (b) of the second section being 180° to 280° and the distance (d) between the tip (18) of the second section and the straight part (17) of the first section being between 7 mm and 15 mm when the catheter is not deformed. The angioplasty makes it possible to insert one or more stents that keep the ductus open in extrauterine life, which improves the survival of the patient in the period between the newborn and young infant stages, allowing the patient to gain weight and the corrective surgery to be performed a few months later, more safely and with better results.La presente invención se refiere a un catéter guía herradura 16 para realizar angioplastia del ductus arterioso con colocación de stents en pacientes recién nacidos y lactantes con cardiopatías ductus-dependientes, que comprende una primera sección larga, recta y hueca, unida en su parte distal con la segunda sección compuesta por una porción curva en forma de sección de círculo con un radio (R a) de 7.5 mm a 9 mm, el arco (b) de dicha segunda sección es de 180° a 280° y la distancia (d) entre la punta de la segunda sección 18 y la parte recta de la primera sección 17, sin estar deformado el catéter, está entre 7 mm y 15 mm. La angioplastia hace posible introducir uno o varios stents que mantienen el ductus abierto, en la vida extrauterina, lo que mejora la sobrevivencia del paciente en el periodo de recién nacido y de lactante pequeño, permitiendo que éste aumente de peso, y que la cirugía correctiva se pueda llevar a cabo unos meses después de una manera más segura y con mejores
