Disclosed herein is a solid composition for oral care comprising at least one whitening agent chosen from chloride isocyanurate and metal salts of hypochlorite； at least one carbonate base； and optionally at least one effervescent acid. Further disclosed herein is a kit comprising the solid composition and an aqueous liquid composition, as well as methods of whitening teeth and/or producing antibacterial effects in the oral cavity comprising mixing the solid composition with an aqueous liquid composition until the solid composition disintegrates to create a mouthwash comprising hypochlorite； and contacting teeth with the mouthwash comprising hypochlorite.
