A catapult with a Y-shaped frame 30 defining a pair of spaced-apart arms 34 and a central handle 35, each arm having a fixing assembly holding a length of elastic 32, and a pouch 36 connected between the free ends the elastic lengths. Each fixing assembly has a tubular bearing (42, Fig 5a), fixedly mounted around an end of each length of elastic, and a tubular bush (44, Fig 5a) concentrically and slidably mounted around each bearing, each fixing assembly being fixed within an opening in an end of an arm, preferably by a rigid pin (40, Fig 4) mounted in a tubular end portion of each elastic length, and each bush having a lip 45 which lines each opening. The bushes and bearings may be moulded from PTFE.
