Provided is a device for generating chlorine dioxide which has beenminiaturized so that a chlorine dioxide source can be carried and which has nofear ofliquid leakage and can be continuously used. A cartridge (28) having achemical-holdingspace (29) in which a granular chlorite is held, a fan (24), and ultravioletLED lamps (32) have been disposed within a device main body (12) which can beseparated into two or more detachable portions. The cartridge (28) has light-transmittingproperties and has a structure which enables air to pass through thechemical-holding space (29) and the inside of the device main body (12). Whenthefan (24) works, air is discharged from the inside of the device main body (12)and,simultaneously therewith, air comes in from the outside of the device mainbody (12).By the action of ultraviolet rays, chlorine dioxide gas is generated from thechloritepresent in the cartridge (28). By the operation of the fan (24), the gas isdischargedfrom the inside of the device main body (12) through air discharge ports (22).
