A pillbox comprising a housing for pills, a lid, a sensor arranged to monitor the presence of the pills and the status of the housing as either closed or opened by the lid, and signalling means arranged to alert a user in dependence on information provided by the sensor. According to the invention, a compressible device is arranged to hold the pills in fixed positions relative the sensor when the housing is closed. The housing and the compressible device have bottoms which face each other with matching shapes and sizes.
