Method of preparing the compound used for killing insects or mites involves culturing one of strains Saccharopolyspora spinosa NRRL 18719, NRRL 18720 or NRLL 18823 in suitable nutrient medium under submerged condition followed by isolation of individual compounds. Composition containing an active substance and a carrier is developed based on the compound obtained. Using the prepared compounds and compositions insects or mites are killed by treatment of their resident regions.
