A method of evaluating tissue stiffness of a target area includes positioning an ultrasound elasticity imaging apparatus adjacent a surface of an area of tissue where the target area is located and applying a dynamic range of force to the tissue. A plurality of ultrasound beams can be directed at the tissue and a plurality of ultrasound echoes can be acquired from the strained tissue in the target area to calculate an amount of developed strain within the target area.La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant d'évaluer la rigidité d'un tissu dans une zone cible, le procédé comprenant le placement d'un appareil d'imagerie ultrasonore d'élasticité à proximité d'une surface d'une zone de tissue où la zone cible est située et l'application d'une gamme dynamique de forces au tissu. Plusieurs faisceaux ultrasonores peuvent être dirigés sur le tissu et plusieurs échos ultrasonores peuvent être acquis à partir du tissu tendu dans la zone cible afin de calculer la tension développée au sein de la zone cible.
