The present invention relates to herbal compositions and in particular to compositions mainly comprising Lippia citriodora useful for the prevention and curing of skin diseases. The topical composition in the form of an oil-in-water cream is prepared by combining an oil phase, containing oil-soluble components, with an aqueous phase, containing water-soluble components and plant extracts to form an emulsion. Prior to mixing the two phases, it is preferable to heat the phases separately to over 50oC, preferably from 60oC to 75oC. After combining the two hot phases, the mixture is stirred and cooled.
