[Problem] To provide a disposable diaper from which a fragrance is not discharged due to moisture present during storage before use or the sweat of a wearer while being worn, but from which a fragrance is discharged when excretion occurs. [Solution] The problem can be solved by a disposable diaper characterized by incorporating, on the side of a liquid-impermeable sheet (11) that is towards a surface sheet (30), an alkaline substance (80) which dissolves in urine and renders the urine alkaline, and microcapsules (90) in which a core material is a fragrance and a membrane material is soluble in urine that has been rendered alkaline by the alkaline substance (80).
