<；P>；PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonionic surfactant exerting excellent emulsifying power and solubilization power against an oil component, and a liquid detergent composition containing the same. <；P>；SOLUTION: The nonionic surfactant is represented by formula (1): R-O-(PO)<；SB>；m<；/SB>；-(EO)<；SB>；n<；/SB>；-H [wherein R is 6C-24C saturated linear hydrocarbon group, provided that the saturated linear hydrocarbon group comprises 0.1-20 mol% 6C-10C saturated linear hydrocarbon groups, 60-95 mol% 16C-18C saturated linear hydrocarbon groups and 0-20 mol% 11C-15C and 19C-24C saturated linear hydrocarbon groups； EO is ethyleneoxy group； PO is propyleneoxy group； m is average addition molar number and is a number between 0.1 and 10； n is an average addition molar number and is a number between 0.5 and 25； and (PO)<；SB>；m<；/SB>；and (EO)<；SB>；n<；/SB>；are block-coupled in this order].
