Disclosed is a composition, comprising: a continuous water phase; a discontinuous oil phase comprising a UV-absorbing polyester that is formed by a polycondensation reaction of dimerdiol (DD36 CAS No. 147853-32-5, which is a C36 diol) as a first monomer (monomer 1), di(trimethylolpropane) as a second monomer (monomer 2), dimethyladipate as a third monomer (monomer 3) and benzenepropanoic acid, 3-(2h-benzotriazol-2-yl)-5-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-4-hydroxy-, methylester (methyl 3-[3-tert-butyl-5-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-4-hydroxyphenyl]propionate / methyl 3-(3-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-5-tertbutyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate) (monomer 4), in an amount effective to provide said composition with an SPF of about 2 or more in the absence of a UV-screening compound, wherein the mole ratio of the four monomers (monomer 1:monomer 2:monomer 3:monomer 4) is selected from the group consisting of 2.4:3.1:4.0:8.0 and 3.4:2.1:4.0:6.0; wherein said discontinuous oil phase is stable in said continuous water phase; and an oil-gelling polymer, wherein said composition is substantially free of a non-polymeric UV-absorber.
