A needle assembly having a housingpivotally connected to a base from which a needle extends. Thebase has a catch mechanism that is configured to engageanother catch mechanism at the back wall of the housing. Thehousing has an integral hook configured to engage theneedle. The housing and the base can pivot relative to each other.As housing and the base pivot toward each other, the needleengages the hook and the respective catch mechanismsengage. As a mull, the catch mechanisms are interlocked andthe needle is fixedly retained by the hook within the housing.The gauge of the needle may be determined by the color ofboth the base and the housing, which are molded as a unitarysingle unit.
